This week in the library...

This week at the Pleasantdale Middle School library:

Let Mrs. Steinmetz know what book you are reading and she will work on scheduling a Twitter or Skype chat with the author.

Students can always check out and return books during this time as well!

5th grade summer reading choices

Incoming 5th graders, please choose one of the 6 books listed below to read over the summer.
Be prepared to discuss and complete an assignment related to the book you choose when you return to school in August. We encourage all students to read at least 2 additional books.

Books are available to check out from the Pleasantdale Middle School library. You may also purchase, borrow, or check out the book from another library.

Happy reading!
While living with her Gram in Vermont, eleven-year-old Aubrey writes letters as a way of dealing with losing her father and sister in a car accident, and then being abandoned by her grief-stricken mother.

In North Carolina's Great Smoky Mountains, a troubled boy and his mother, a happy family seeking adventure, a man and his lonely daughter, and the widow who must sell the run-down motel that has been her home for decades, meet and are transformed by their shared experiences.

A young boy and his Norwegian grandmother, who is an expert on witches, together foil a witches' plot to destroy the world's children by turning them into mice.

In 1935, when her mother gets a job housekeeping for a woman who does not like children, eleven-year-old Turtle is sent to stay with relatives she has never met in far away Key West, Florida.

Two suburban children run away from their Connecticut home and go to New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, where their ingenuity enables them to live in luxury.

Looking for excitement, Coraline ventures through a mysterious door into a world that is similar, yet disturbingly different from her own, where she must challenge a gruesome entity in order to save herself, her parents, and the souls of three others.
